Still Not Dead

Despite the fact I never have time (or energy) to update my blog, I will today.

You're welcome.  I'm a giver like that.

Anyway, due to requests from the kids, I am resuming "Lunchbag Artwork."  Here are today's masterpieces:

Yeah, I am the cool dad!

A Worthy Cause

Sometimes it is important to remember how blessed we are.  I saw this over at Van's site and it's important to remember how tough things can be.

This is from his friend Kate:

My 3 year old nephew, Charlie, was diagnosed on Christmas Eve, 2009 with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a large, malignant, metastatic, nerve-based, abdominal tumor. He is currently undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
The money collected through the Charlie Haughey Fund will be to used to cover whatever costs of his treatment insurance doesn’t cover and will be held until Charlie is ‘out of the woods’ and in remission with a clear prognosis. The remainder of the Fund (hopefully the vast majority) will be entirely donated to research for Neuroblastoma and childhood cancers. The fund has been graciously set up by Katrina Strich, Diane Smith and the other truly amazing friends of Charlie’s parents Mike and Julie Haughey.
For those who would like to donate please send to:

Today our friends organized “Hot Chocolate For Charlie,” the first of many planned events, which was incredibly well attended and very successful. People seemed to have a wonderful time all morning, donating generously as they visited with neighbors and ate baked goods and drank hot chocolate under a pristine, winter blue sky. We are planning many fund-raising events in the future including races, musical performances and other fun activities. Stay tuned for future events . . .

If you can, please give.  If you can't give, please at least say a prayer or two.

Thanks

Blogging? What's That?

I remember when I used to blog because I was dis-satisfied with my situation and wanted to vent my frustration.

I am still dis-satisfied, but due to cutbacks I just don't have the time to vent.  I am truly sorry to everyone.  I promise to make it up to you.  I have been stealing techniques from Tom Richmond's Mad Blog so I will post stuff up as I have time.

The bad news is, I have been seeing precious little time for anything spare.  I am now moving into the "Active" phase of job search because I have given up hope of a layoff package from PHONECO.  Unfortunately it looks like when they close the doors I will be cross trained on turnip twaddlers and supporting them as well as Large/Medium/Small PBXs (don't forget Terminals. SIP and ISDN).

So if anyone wants an annoying phone man / network guy who tells funny potty jokes drop me a comment and I'll email you my resume.  Otherwise I will get a picture out to you all as soon as I can.

Hugs, kisses and I hope everyone enjoys this Super Bowl.  I will be happy no matter who wins, Colts or Saints!

Gang Initiation

As a note. I am going to try some stuff with just ink and pencil and get away from cleaning and coloring with Paint Shop to see if I can get it to look the way I want.

I am just not happy with the way the colors are winding up.

Please Help

I got this link from The Bloggess for two young people who are trying to get the kids they are adopting out of Haiti.  Please follow the link and read up.  Call your congessman and pressure them to get help to these young people.

Also, don't forget any help you can give to the people of Haiti.  The country is in desperate need of help and anything you can do will help.

Inspiration

Sometimes things get slow around here and I can't get much in the way of illustrations done.  Sometimes inspiration strikes and you can't resist.

Lucie History Lesson

Last night THE WIFE and I were talking with Lucie about school.  THE WIFE was trying to get Lucie to tell me about what they were learning in school and that they had Martin Luther King Jr. day coming up.  She wanted to show me what all Lucie was learning about Dr. King.

ME: So Lucie, what did Dr. King do that was important?
Lucie: DADDY! He wasn't a DOCTOR, he was a KING!

Small Victories

Very small, but Sean Hannity on twitter announced he would be having Juan Williams and Michael Meyers on his show.

Me being the smart-alec I am sent the following message to him:

Imagine my surprise when Sean replies back.

Thanks Sean.  You kept my head out of the oven yesterday.

Not Angry, Just Tired

Been working early shift (7 to 4) this week and it has kind of kicked my butt.  I had to work over to fix a problem last night and came up with a solution, called the tech back and he told me that the cut had been postponed so there was no rush.

I also have another tech hounding me to tell him if what I think is a really bad idea will work or not.  It's one of those things where it should work in theory, but I really don't think he'll ever get it to work in real life.

But should I say that?  It's not a matter of being condescending, but it is an over-complicated piece of poop (this solution) so I think failure potential is high.  I follow the Mythbusters' belief that the more complicated something is the more likely it is to fail.  (Murphy's Law never fails.)

Also today we were told to help a guy out on a system we do not support anymore.  One of the guys that loved working on the old systems grabbed it.  I guess we take a firm line on not working on things we don't support except for when we don't take a firm line.

Whatever.  I have decided to catch up on my bug fixes and have a totally bad attitude (Big Cup of Don't Give a Crap).

In good news, we talked to the preacher for the church we have been going to at dinner with him last night.  We told him we had decided to join so we are no longer church homeless.  So don't think I am depressed, I am just a bit dismayed about work and tired.  I will be back to my old sarcastic self again soon.

Have a great weekend all!

Why I Might Get Excommunicated

Gibbs Is A Troll

I have proof!

Working On It

This dang thing called work is stifling my creativity.  Since I have not gotten anything entertaining up lately, I wanted to give you at least a taste of what is coming.  Here is a pencil drawing in progress before the cleanup and color.

Hopefully you all will see this one cleaned up and ready to go in the next day or two.  Also, I am wanting to distribute my cartoons out and about and I am interested if anybody has any feedback.  Do you get a giggle every now and then?  Should I keep my day job?

Am I too sexy for my shirt, so sexy it huuuurts?
